The release date of Path of Exile 2 has been postponed to December 6

Path of Exile 2 has been pushed back to December 6, just over two weeks before its original Early Access release date of November 15.

This news came via a video that Grinding Gear Games posted to Twitter, in which game director Jonathan Rogers gave some insight into the decision. You can check that out for yourself below, although the reason for the delay appears to be related to work on the back-end server infrastructure, especially regarding porting microtransactions from PoE 1 to PoE 2.

The game was first announced in 2019 and has been in continuous work for a few years now, as the original continues its stream of steady updates. It wasn’t until earlier this year that Grinding Gear Games announced that the console version would also be getting some love, including couch co-op and other quality of life features.

It’s worth emphasizing that this release (now delayed until December) is just the Early Access version of the game. Still, it’ll be a hefty game with plenty to do, rather than a feature-less game you might find in other early access releases. A similar approach was taken with the first Path of Exile, which seems to have worked out well for the company.
